Changes to Cervical Screening Results – From September 2025

From September 2025, the way cervical screening results are shared will be changing.

Patients with a negative screening result will receive their result digitally through the NHS App. A notification will appear in the app to let you know your result is ready. If the message is not read within 72 hours, a letter will then be sent by post.

Patients with an abnormal result will continue to receive their result by post as before.

It is important that all patients are aware that, from September 2025, cervical screening results may be delivered via the NHS App.

If you do not yet have the NHS App, you can download it using the links below:

The NHS App is free to use and a secure way to access many of your NHS services, including test results, repeat prescriptions and health advice.
